It's Blog Hop Party & Giveaway Time!

The Quilting Gallery is celebrating their 4th birthday with a Blog Hop Party with giveaways! There are over 200 blogs participating so that means there's oodles of stuff to be won!! I thought I would join in the fun too, after all, who can resist a party! So what am I giving away? Your choice of either a charm pack of MODA SHERBET PIPS shown here...
or a free motion quilted needle case/pincushion made by Moi!
With lots of little pockets for scissors, seam rippers etc and a soft place to store your needles. This is what's in mine but you can fill yours with whatever you like (sorry, the tools pictured are not included, but you never know what I might add to yours!).

Did I mention your needle case will be personalized? I will monogram it with your initial. Now what's special about the monogrammed area, besides having your initial of course? It is a mini pincushion!
All you have to do is count how many stitches I used.... JUST KIDDING! No hoops to go through here. Just leave me one comment telling me what your favorite toy was when you were a kid! That's it! This giveaway is open to everyone. I will contact the winner to find out their preference on the charm pack or the needlecase. I will ship internationally.

Here are the rules:

1. Only one comment per person

2. I need to have a way to contact you. If you are a no-reply blogger, you must leave me your email address in your comment. If I can't contact you, you can't win! See below* to learn how to change your settings.

3. This giveaway closes at noon central standard time on December 17th. I will announce the winner on December 18th.

Good luck everyone and thanks for stopping by!
corina

*To check and see if you are a no-reply blogger you need to go to your dashboard and look at your profile settings. All you need to do is click on Edit Profile and make sure the box that says "Show my Email address" is ticked, then save the changes. That way I will be able to email you if you are a winner!

Comments are now closed. I will announce the winner tomorrow, December 18th. Thank you everyone for participating. It's been a wonderful trip down memory lane hearing about all of your favorite toys!

One favorite toy was a stuffed dog my mom bought for me with green stamps. Does anyone else remember the Christmases when green stamps bought it all??? I don't remember if that's all I got that year, more than likely it was. Christmas was so normal back then,,not the grab glut of today's youth....

My favorite toy was my Barbie doll, I sure wish I had it now as it would be a collector item since it was from the 50's. I had so much fun playing with it and my mom would make clothes for my doll.

Dolls were my favourite - I fondly remember my T. Eaton Doll (I'm giving away my age)and having loads of fun with paper dolls! This brings back back great memories!! If I'm lucky enough to win I'd like your needlecase and pincushion, which are absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for this opportunity.

I'm a new follower, love both the items! my favorite toy is NALLE, he's a bear my mom actually got when she was 1 and passed on to me, his fur is all worn off, because she had spilled him in oil when she was little, plus when I was a child my dog chewed it up! Nalle is stuffed with saw dust! so I came home from school with saw dust in my room- not much but enough to make a few holes in him, so we had to take him to a DOLL/teddy bear doctor and he got patched back up with pieces of RUG! that was the only thing that matched... when I was a teenager I crocheted little outfits and booties for him to protect him. he now sits on a chair next to our bed, he's a stiff little thing and not very pretty with leather paws and glass beads as eyes, but I love him and would never part with him.

I can't remember just one special toy, because I was always coming up with new things. During the summer I made little huts from the willows in the acres next to us. I made flower braclets from the dandylions and lily of the valley During the winter I made snowmen, snow angles etc. Indoors I was creating with fabric, cooking or baking. When we finally had neighbors with children my age we played school on the front porch steps.

Those needle case/pincushions are exquisite! Lovely work with hundreds of expertly placed stitches! LOL!

My favorite toy was a doll head on a swivel stand. The doll had long hair, so a child could pretend to be a hairstylist. I'd roll the doll's hair, brush it, and style it into up-dos. So much fun!

One day, I placed the doll a chairside table in our living room, just down the hall from our family's only bathroom. No one else was home, but my dad had taken a shower and found himself without a towel. My mom loved to sew, so sometimes she'd just pile clean towels that she intended to fold and put away later on a bed. Sewing took precedence over mundane housework!

My dad slowly tiptoed out of the bathroom and took a few steps toward the bedroom, where he'd spied a pile of freshly laundered towels. However, when he spotted a "young woman" sitting in the living room, he tried to run. His feet were wet, so he slipped down on the floor and slid several feet. His legs slid completely under the bed. He scrambled to his feet, grabbed a towel, and headed to his bedroom to dress. Too funny! I am sure my doll never told a soul about what she saw, but we laugh about it still! My dear father has since passed away. Bless his heart.

"Timmy" was just a simple doll with plastic molded hair, painted on eyes, and movable arms and legs, but he was my very favorite doll and I loved him so... I think it was because he reminded of a *real* baby... :-)

My favorite toy was a fisher price doll my father gave me when he came home from Korea. She had a soft body, a molded face and molded hands and 'real' hair. My father had to leave when I was 6 mos. old and was gone for a year. (Air Force) I named her LeeLee and she was my constant companion. Once, I left her at someone's house when I finished playing and was beside myself all night and couldn't sleep. I still have her to this day, and I'm 37 years old.

When I was about 2-1/2 I found a baby doll laying in a snowbank near our house & brought it home. The hair was all gone just showing the roots...it was a "horseman" doll. They stopped making them in the early 60's. They were rubber with eyes that open/ close depending on if laying down or sitting up. You could also give it water in a little bottle & squeeze it to...It was only about 10" tall, moveable legs & arms that could completely turn 360 degrees. My mother & grandmother tried to replace her most of my childhood with a "new" & shiny doll with nice hair...I always put those up on a shelf, but she was my baby! My grandma did support her with clothes every Christmas, still have her & her clothes.

Although I had picked many other girl names ahead, when I had my daughter @ 40, I named her after my doll. She's a keeper too, but with nice hair!

My favorite toy was a teddy bear. He disappeared for quite some time but was found after my mother passed away. He's now over 60 years old. He's still my favorite toy. Merry Christmas from Minnesota.

I'd love the Pips!
I didn't have a fave toy, I had a blanket. It was a Cabbage Patch blanket.

Now there's a walk down memory lane! I had a Strawberry Shortcake doll whose hair I still remember the smell of. I wish I still had that! I love both prizes!

Okay there are 75 stitches in the "S" as for the rest of the stitches in the needles cases let's see 22,379! LOL just kidding. I sure would love one of those needle cases. My favorite toy? Hmmm...actually it was several puzzles. Yup... puzzles... the more pieces the better...Maybe that's what drove me to quilting... hmmm

Thanks for the great giveaway. If I won, I'd definitely choose a FMQed needlecase. The ones you've made are so beautiful.

My favourite toy as a child was a huge teddy bear. I slept with it until I was 12 and after that it still had place of honour in my room. It's been repaired so many times that I now have it safely packed away. Someday far in the future after I'm gone, my children will have to decide what to do with it, because I can't bear the thought of parting with it. (pun not intended... lol)
