Somehow I got a little sidetracked. In the middle of a ton of quilting projects I switched direction and started taking violin lessons. I've never been drawn to the violin, am not musical and the only instrument I have ever played was a short stint with the accordion at age 12. I started playing that because the "c" note had a rhinestone embedded in it. A very good reason don't you think?
Maybe this happened because I'm so deliriously happy that I am going to be a Grandma sometime around Halloween!!!! There will be many baby quilts in the near future you can be sure! For now though, I'm going to torment my dogs with some awful screeching on the violin (I feel so very talented when all 3 start howling the moment I pick it up!).
Happy Stitching

Wow, playing the violin.. that is fantastic. I do hope you are having tons of fun learning a new skill. I'm impressed. So happy to read you will be a grandma soon. Most excellent news!
Don't feel bad, I'm a screeching violinist of one year. Must have thought I needed a challenge, away from quilting and ordinary life. I don't have a good excuse except that my Irish lineage is probably happy that my violin teacher is catering to my celtic love. I am in hopes that someday I'll be able to play celtic tunes that my 9 year old daughter (Irish dance student) might be able to actually dance to.
So keep up those ambitions!
Way to go with the violin! I'm told that learning new skills keeps the brain young. Don't listen to your critics - my cats go nuts when I play my recorder and they battle with each other until I stop.
omg the violin how adventurous of you. I can't say it is my favourite instrument either, but good on you for trying. Congrats on becoming a grandma in the fall. I look forward to seeing all these baby quilts
Wow! Good for you taking up a new hobby!! All the best! Can't wait to hear it!
Go for it! Think of how much fun it will be. I'd like to learn the flute.
Wonderful! I play bari sax in a swing band. I have always wanted to learn to play the cello. Good for you! And how wonderful that you're going to be a gramma!!! My eyes are green with envy!
