One more day

Last night I decided not to spend anymore time on sewing a quilt that I just didn't like. In the bright light of the morning I figured I would give this quilt one more day. So...I will now applique circles in the small squares. I just wish I would have decided that before I finished sewing the top together! Here is what it might end up looking like (still trying to decide if the circles are big enough).

I'm Stuck!

A few years ago I made a maple leaf quilt. There were over 400 2 1/2" squares leftover. I figured it would be simple to put together a scrappy quilt with minimal cutting. Well, I'm almost finished sewing together the top and I HATE IT! Maybe hate is too strong a word, but i really don't like it. The beige snowball blocks just shout out with their nakedness. I know they will look better with quilting, but I'm not that confident with my freemotion work to do motifs in the center and an allover meander won't really add much. I've tried auditioning circles, flowers and hearts in the center but not crazy about that either. I think I would have been generally happy with it if I had used a darker color for the snowball blocks. The white/beige is just not me. My thinking at this point is to pack it up and start a different project. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Quilting is always on my mind. Ideas for new quilts spin around in my head constantly. I'm a fabric junkie. I'll spend hours looking through quilting books. The problem is, I have a hard time deciding which project to start on.
